First time here- and will definitely be back soon. I went on a girls night out , there was live music, attentive service, affordable drinks and delicious food. We shared chicken quesadilla, fries and mozzarella sticks. So yummy! They have an outdoor patio as well, I didn’t get to fully explore but have already set a date for my next visit.
Parking was free after 6pm as well.

I have been coming to this spot since it opened (and even since it was another business). It has really come into its own. Ryan is an awesome bartender. Great selection of local beers, good cocktails, and food is always on point. Constant stream of live music has been a big bonus

I went last night to hear the band they had playing and have dinner. I ordered the filet mignon. It came with mashed potato and mixed vegetables. I opted for no potato and just steak and veggies. The steak was cooked to my liking and for the money ($33.00)was a good value. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. My waitress was excellent, she came by often and i never had an empty glass!
The band (Sandy Stones trio) was excellent. They played popular covers and had bar patrons dancing and singing along! The bar was full lots of people having a great time. I will go back again!

Looked for a Gastropub in the area to go for lunch on a cold, rainy April day. Stumbled upon this local gem.
The decor was a bit dark but the service was fantastic and the food was fresh and delicious.
The poutine fries are served with pickled jalapeños which brought a fresh pop of flavor to a classic savory snack. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with a side Caesar salad and both were absolutely delicious.

Perfect local pub, right near the courthouse. The food is great (try the chili-lime wings, bahn mi, and sweet potato fries), the service is excellent, and good, local atmosphere. Live music, improv jams, trivia, and more on the schedule.

Awesome bar! This place has a chill vibe perfect for a solo lunch break, friendly business drink, or a friends get-together. I saw all kinds of people when I popped in for a quick bite. This is obviously a neighborhood spot, but one you can feel comfortable in pretty much no matter who you are or where you are from.
The bartender JoJo was exactly what you want in a bartender, eager to get you a beer, give a recommendation, and put your food order in and friendly with conversation if you wanted it.
The food is approachable bar food, but not typical food (especially considerinf we were in Jersey). With a Canadian influence, the poutine is delish! With a Mediterranean influence, the lamb burger was flavorful and exactly what I wanted. From typical bar bites to unexpected international snacks, SideBar delivered on the comfortable vibe promised on their website.
Highly recommend if you are in the area. Parking is a bit wonky, but worth searching for the spot to pull up to this Hackensack gem.

Cozy venue, my server Andrew, was very attentive, big plus. Pretty spacious venue, so it's comfortable for groups of various sizes they have happy hour from 4pm-7pm on weekdays, extra plus. The happy hour bites were really good. I had one of each. I recommend checking this place out.

Nice quaint pub to visit on a Saturday evening...there is a bar section for individuals to hang out chit chat and have a drink with the fellas...there is a sit down section with lovely atmosphere lighting. The food and drinks were good. I will visit again

This has definitely become my partner and my favorite spot for date night! This was our second time coming to SideBar after falling in absolute love with the poutine the first time we came! This time we didn’t even bother with entrées and just went for the wings and poutine. The poutine was delicious as always but what really left us stunned this time was the chili lime wings we got, coming in a creamy and tangy sauce, with a side of house made buttermilk ranch, they were perfectly cooked and were named by my partner as “the BEST wings”.

SideBar Gastropub is one of those rare spots that instantly feels like your neighborhood bar but also serves genuinely great food. The building dates back to 1895, and you can feel the historic charm the moment you walk in. Warm, cozy, and full of character—this place truly stands out.
What I love most:
🔥 Great Happy Hour
🍗 Awesome Wing Wednesday deal
🍔 High-quality food with all sauces made in-house
🍺 Local craft beers
🍸 Classic + creative signature cocktails
🍷 Thoughtful wine selection
SideBar blends old-school comfort with a fresh, elevated take on classic bar fare. They also host live music several nights a week and are only a few blocks from hacpac making it a perfect pre-show stop.
Planning something special? Their intimate, historic setting is perfect for holiday parties or private events.
If you haven’t been yet, definitely add SideBar to your list. It’s a true gem in Hackensack.
